Groom Difficult Dog Breeds
Have you ever overheard a group of groomers talking shop? It’s an interesting thing. There are definite opinions about specific breeds!
If you talk to any groomer, they will tell you that though they don’t want to admit to having any specific prejudices, they usually have a ‘list’ of breeds that are notoriously difficult to groom.
Some are specifically bad when getting their nails trimmed, such as pugs, doxis and chihuahuas.
Other breeds just hate getting bathed. Huskies, malamutes and bichons tend to give groomers an especially hard time in the bath.
Those same furry breeds are usually bad for the groom itself, too, for the same reason:Â chows, huskies and corgies, to name a few.
If you’re uncomfortable with any of these breeds to begin with, you may not want to groom them at all. Refusing certain breeds is every groomer’s right, even if it’s just a personal fear or dislike of certain breeds.
It’s better to refuse a dog than to get bitten and be unable to groom for days, weeks, or even months, depending on the severity of the injury.
Hope hearing this eases your conscience if you have any of your own dislikes!
